Elementals are the very incarnation of an element in physical form. They have magic powers beyond human(or magi) understanding. Being composed of their element entirely they are immortals bonded to the Earth. Their are elementals of every element except Void. However rumor have popped up every few hundred years about an ancient sealed elemental of void... the elementals usually avoid contact with humans and view them as inferior beings. Occasionally an elemental will join in a war and have been known to single-handedly turn the tide of battle.
The elementals have been around as long as man can remember, having existed for over 20,000 years, being older than even the gods are known to be. They have a history of violence and mystery, becoming angry and wiping out massive civilizations and then disappearing for hundreds of years at a time. They have been known to make pacts with humans that give the human a small portion of their elemental power in exchange for the servitude. They are known and feared by all, yet encountered by few.
